Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what ChessEcho collects, how we use it, and when we share it.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to ChessEcho, a product operated by Nova Foundry LLC. ChessEcho helps players build, study, and retain chess opening repertoires.

Information we collect

We collect the information needed to run ChessEcho and provide the features you use.

  • Account information such as your name and email address.
  • Authentication and session information needed to sign you in and keep your account secure.
  • Opening, repertoire, study, and progress data that you save in ChessEcho.
  • Imported Lichess study information when you choose to connect Lichess or import study content.
  • Stripe customer and subscription records needed to manage Premium billing.
  • Basic technical information such as IP address, browser or device details, and operational logs.
  • Product usage and interaction data needed to understand feature adoption, funnel drop-off, and service performance.

How we use information

  • To create and manage your account.
  • To deliver study, progress, import, and billing features.
  • To secure the service, prevent abuse, and diagnose operational issues.
  • To measure product usage, identify drop-off points, and improve the service.
  • To communicate with you about account access, billing, and support requests.

Payments

ChessEcho does not store full payment card details. Stripe handles payment processing and stores payment information on its own systems.

Third-party services

ChessEcho uses third-party providers to operate the service. We specifically rely on Stripe for billing and Lichess when you choose to connect or import from your Lichess account. We also use other providers for hosting, infrastructure, email delivery, database operations, product analytics, and error monitoring.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate ChessEcho, process payments, support Lichess integrations you request, comply with law, or protect the service and our users.

Data retention

You can delete your account from the account area. When you do, ChessEcho removes the account data needed to sign you in and removes the training, import, progress, and local billing data tied to that account. Some records may still be retained for a limited time in backups, security logs, or payment systems when retention is needed for fraud prevention, dispute handling, accounting, or legal obligations.

Policy updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date on this page.
